Maybe people don't care?
Maybe the degenerate meta team builds don't require so much coordination that people feel it's necessary?
Maybe you're interacting with the wrong players? I'd really like to think it's this and not one of the previous two.

Your average tombs pug is much more likely to be running a build that functions adequately without vent.
tldr: stop pugging.

why has the pvp community moved away from voice communication for the various forms of pvp?

ventrilo isnt managed by guild wars or anything affiliated with it.. the ventrilo servers are rented and used by individual players... being a member of any specific guild doesnt give you immediate right or access to it. You might want to use it for coordinated attacks but the person renting the server might not want to put out the money for it if no one is using it. it would be wasted money unless you want to rent a server yourself.

Most of the builds are meant for brainless underworld farms. Usually in a PUG you say things(kill spirits/aura plz/don't stand in aoe) and nobody listens. Easy solution is to find some friends or a good guild.

voip is overrated. just because pros use it doesn't mean that you will automatically be a pro because you are using it. It's useful for leaders or officers to call targets or give commands but that's about it. and even then only if people are listening. if you have to have someone tell you to disenchant this person, or dont stand in an aoe then vent isn't going to help you and maybe you should just quit playing guild wars.
I mean just because you bought a classic pair of air jordans doesn't mean that you will instantly be micheal jordan just because you bought his sneakers. If your build is setup right and your group isnt goofing off or being stupid then you are going to succeed whether or not you use ventrilo or teamspeak.
As for pugs, pugs really shouldn't use vent or ts anyway because I get sick of writing them down each time I join a new pug just for 1 or 2 matches.
Save the trees.

It's not overrated it's great when used well(incoming spells/certain skills disabled) it's not humanely possible to keep track of everything. Yes being microed is a waste of time but VOIP is a vital part of the game because even just by listening everyone becomes more aware

If you wish to have any type of tactics on the maps that aren't deathmatch, then either you need to play with the same people day in and day out for a long time, or be able to quickly communicate with them.

I think answer is simple: bad players need vent, good players dont need vent
I never used vent for HA because there is no need for it, you just have to use common sense.
I was even spiking using guild chat and it worked perfect so seriously if you really need vent for HA you're bad player.

If people know what they're doing, they can usually get by without vent for most objectives.
That being said, it's a resource available to you that can improve your coordination as a team. Why would you not take advantage of it, assuming you enjoy winning?

Reverend Dr you obviously have no clue about PvP and how it works so I'll ignore your opinion. Thing is GW is damn easy game you just have to click few skills, watch minimap, and have IQ>100 ... if you need vent for that than I guess you're "special" if you know what I mean.

You need some sort of voice communication if you GvG for everything else it's optional.

Yeah my bad there I guess... vent is ok for top level GvG even tho it's not necessary but for toomz and other PvP areas it's damn useless, you can be sure people play better without vent than with it since they won't just listen to super cool know-all leader but they'll also use their own brains.

Yes , vent will be better for GvG obviously , but for HA seriously , apart of some spikes rly requiring it , i don't see the point of using there. Medal though to those who use it on dead hour , or who need it to run bbway/wotaway .

Good players use ventrilo. With it you can tell your teammates exactly what you have on you, you can call out tagrets by vocalizing their name or party number, you can vocalize commands such as body-blocking a particular player, and so on. People who don't use vent are at a disadvantage to those who DO use it. The only thing saving the non-venters vs venters are any significant mistakes being made [aka: retardation]. Other than that, venters, depending on their skill level and application of said skills, will usually win vs non-venters.

Anyway god players don't use vent, good players watch screen and since when does vent make you bodyblock better? Seriously you should get decent toomz and champ rank before you discuss about this.

You brag about wiping tombs in a game all of the best players quit.
And anybody that thinks vent is overrated you must be new to this competitive gaming thing.
